what is child & adolescent psychotherapy?

Being a young person today can be tough; whether it’s academic stress, coming up against strict school behaviour policies, friendship challenges, identity questions, or trying to navigate the world of work for the first time. Therapy can help you:

  • Feel heard without pressure or labels

  • Process tough emotions in ways that feel manageable

  • Develop coping skills that can be carried into the future

how it works

As an integrative psychotherapist, I don’t believe in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Instead I blend:

  • Talk therapy for those who want a space to reflect

  • Play and creative techniques for those who express themselves best through art or metaphor

  • Relational work to help navigate friendships, family dynamics, and sense of self

Therapy isn’t about ‘fixing’ a problem. It’s about building the tools to:

  • Process complicated or mixed feelings

  • Build resilience during transitions (e.g. divorce, bullying, moving house, beginning secondary school)

  • Feel empowered in who they are

who it’s for

I have experience working with a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety

  • ADHD

  • Low self-esteem

  • Depression or low mood

  • Stress or academic pressure

  • Emotionally based school avoidance

  • Early trauma or recent experience of traumatic event

  • Friendship, family, or relationship difficulties

  • Difficulties with eating, sleeping, or self-care

  • Identity exploration (e.g. gender, sexuality, culture)

  • Transitions and life changes (e.g. divorce, moving, changing schools)

  • Loss and bereavement

parents & carers - you are part of the journey

Sessions are confidential so that your child feels truly safe to express him or herself. However, my work is systemic, which means that I work closely with parents and carers of children under 16.

The first step is to schedule a free 30 minute video call to discuss your concerns, answer any questions you may have, and see if working together feels right. If we decide to move forward, we will meet in-person to explore your child’s needs and goals. This helps me tailor our approach.

Moving forward, your child will attend weekly 50-minute sessions. Depending on your child’s age and needs, we will schedule regular review meetings.

Parents and carers are key partners. While therapy is your child’s space, I’ll offer guidance on how to support them at home during our review sessions.

Fees per session are £85
